Senators and MPs are expected to debate and vote on important projects at the end of their term.

Military pensions could come up for debate in the Chamber of Deputies committees next week, while senators in the budget committee have a bill on the agenda that would see a certain category of pensioners pay zero tax on their income statements.

With less than two months to go before the elections, lawmakers are planning to pass a number of legislative initiatives, one of which is indexing military pensions to pay.

The PNL bill could be debated as early as next week in the Chamber of Deputies, following a request from the initiators.

Two other bills under consideration by MPs include a 10% limit on down payments to real estate developers for house purchases, which came back into the spotlight after the Nordis scandal, and a ban on gambling halls in all localities, not just small ones.

In the Senate, the Budget Committee is expected to decide whether the fees for income certificates proving length of service for recalculation could be abolished for Romanians with pensions under 3.000 lei.

The draft tabled by the PNL also foresees halving the costs for those with pensions between 3.000 and 6.000 lei.
