IMF recommendations for Romania

The most important economic policy that Romania must now pursue is a rapid implementation of the anti-COVID-19 vaccination campaign, said the executive directors of the International Monetary Fund. They recommend to the Romanian authorities to provide generous fiscal resources for this purpose.
An International Monetary Fund board report states that support measures in the context of the pandemic should be redirected to the most affected sectors, and that fiscal policy should aim at a more equitable distribution of the tax incidence and improved tax collection efficiency. The Romanian authorities are also recommended to reform the state companies. These are the IMF's recommendations following the May mission, part of the regular consultation process.
