The Swiss official said that the volume of trade between Switzerland and Romania amounted to five billion euros and that there are 900 Swiss companies in Romania.
Romanian-Swiss trade is on a strong upward trend, said Foreign Minister Emil Hurezeanu, stressing that the Swiss contribution will provide Romania with funds for various modernization programs.
Emil Hurezeanu: Through this contribution, which aims to reduce economic and social disparities, Romania will benefit from 221.5 million Swiss francs for programs that will support economic growth and social dialogue, reduce youth unemployment, environmental protection, strengthening social systems and civic involvement. These funds represent an opportunity for further modernization.
For his part, the Swiss Federal Councillor for Foreign Affairs, Ignazio Cassis, said that democracy as a way of living together is under pressure around the world. On the other hand, he emphasized his country's engagement in Ukraine.
Ignazio Cassis: Switzerland's engagement in Ukraine is long-term. Our government wants to support Ukraine and wants to make €5.2 billion available.
