Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) have approved the candidacy of Hungarian Olivér Várhelyi as European Commissioner for Enlargement. Validation allows the investment vote for the new European Commission led by Ursula von der Leyen to take place next week, November 27th.
Olivér Várhelyi, currently Hungary's Ambassador to the European Union, is the last of the 27 candidates for the post of Commissioners in the future EU Executive who has received approval of the European Parliament.
Next European Commission is to start work on December 1, one month later than initially scheduled.
