Hundreds of Romanian tourists are now stuck on Island of Samothraki, because ferry that connects the island and mainland Greece has broken down. There are also tourists of other nationalities.
Number of stranded tourists on the island increases day by day as their holiday ends and they cannot leave. People complain that they have nowhere to stay on the island, because accommodation is all booked and some of them have no more money. There are also children. Passenger car queues in the harbor are believed to have exceeded 100.
Romanian tourist in Samothraki told Radio Romania News that a wildfire has broken out on the island on Monday, but firemen managed to isolate the outbreak and everything seems to be under control for now.
Romanian Foreign Ministry has published, as of last Friday, a travel warning for Greece, stating that solutions are being sought to unblock the situation, without mentioning, however, any deadline.
