Human resources were the main problem in the activity of the prosecutor's offices in Romania in 2022. The clarification was made on Tuesday by the general prosecutor in the balance sheet of the General Prosecutor's Office for the past year.
In addition to the shortage of prosecutors, Gabriela Scutea also spoke about the main developments in the prosecutor's office in 2022. RRA correspondent Diana Surdu reports.
Reporter: Prosecutor General Gabriela Scutea said on Tuesday that the dynamics of human resources and the degree of occupation of prosecutor positions of 74% influenced the results of the activity.
More than 270 prosecutors were released from their positions last year, and 12 prosecutor's offices had only one position filled.
The head of the prosecutors showed on Tuesday that one of the criminal phenomena that has increased is the trafficking of migrants.
Regarding corruption crimes, although 11% more defendants were sent to court, the indicator is the lowest since 2013. The mandate of the Prosecutor General Gabriela Scutea ends on February 20.
The magistrate entered the competition for the head of the General Prosecutor's Office, together with his colleague Marius-Ionut Voineag. This month there will be contests for the headship of DNA and DIICOT, and the results will be published by March 1.
