More scorching days ahead, with temperatures even higher than so far and particularly hot and uncomfortable. Today, the first code red heatwave of the summer will come into force, and Sunday will be even hotter. Meteorologists warn that in six counties and areas in three more the forecast temperatures will be very close to 40° celsius, and those felt will be higher.
Oana Paduraru, National Administration of Meteorology: The counties concerned by the red code are Dolj, Olt, Teleorman, Giurgiu, Ilfov, the Bucharest area, but also the south of Valcea, Arges and Dambovita counties, where temperatures will be frequent 38-39° in the afternoon, and the discomfort will be particularly pronounced.
At the same time, the situation is no better in the rest of the country, as temperatures in the areas affected by the Code Orange will generally be between 35 and 37°.
We have to bear in mind that these are temperatures measured in meteorological shelters. Temperatures, as we are used to in general, are about 5° higher than those measured, and in the areas affected by the code yellow in the afternoon, temperatures are expected to be generally between 31 and 34°, but here too the discomfort will be more pronounced.
