There is a high risk of avalanche (grade 4 on a scale from 1 to 5), at 1,800 meters altitude in the Făgăraş Mountains, in the Bâlea Lake tourist area, where the highest snow cover is now above 170 centimeters.
Surface has an unstable 30-40 centimeter layer of recently fallen snow.
In addition to that, there are many slopes where massive avalanches may occur, by engaging snow layers underneath.
