The 77 years that have passed since the battle of Paulis, during the Second World War, were marked on Saturday by a ceremony at the monument of the local heroes.
The RRA correspondent in Arad, Ioan Suciu, recalls that in September 1944 the students of the reserve non-commissioned officer school in Radna managed to keep in place Hungarian and German troops, much better equipped and more experienced, which overwhelmed them numerically.
They were honored by many participants in the commemoration, including many young people.
- I think that children and teenagers should know that this day for us, the people of Paulis, is a special day, because many young people fought here, in order for us to have a good life.
- It is a very special day, because we celebrate the Day of the Heroes who fought in Paulis and I say it with joy: I am proud to wear this folk costume.
- History should be better known by the youth and those in the Ministry of Education should make efforts so that all these realities that the Romanian people lived, an army that sacrificed itself for the nation, are known by the young generations.
