Hellenic Navy General Staff Chief on official visit to Romania
Romanian Chief of Defense, General Nicolae Ciucă, has received, on Wednesday, in Bucharest, the Hellenic Navy General Staff (HNGS) Chief, Vice Admiral Nikolaos Tsounis.

Romanian Chief of Defense, General Nicolae Ciucă, has received, on Wednesday, in Bucharest, the Hellenic Navy General Staff (HNGS) Chief, Vice Admiral Nikolaos Tsounis, on official visit to Romania following invitation from Romanian Vice Admiral Alexandru Mîrşu, Chief of Romanian Naval Forces.
Talks included naval forces current and future co-operation activities, to enhance security, both at regional and allied level.
Vice Admiral Tsounis has scheduled a working meeting with Romanian Navy leadership, to discuss issues related to projects of the two naval forces included in the European Union's Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO) in the field of security and defense, as well as cooperation of Romanian and Greek naval forces in the following exercises and in the field of naval military training.
On Thursday, November 15th, Vice Admiral Tsounis and Vice Admiral Mîrşu will travel to Constanţa, to meet Romanian Fleet Commander and Commander of "Mircea cel Bătrân" Naval Academy and to visit “Queen Mary” frigate and Training Ship "Mircea".
Visit to Romania of the Hellenic Navy General Staff Chief is part of the international activities of the Greek Naval Forces Staff and contributes to the development of bilateral relations between the two naval military forces, both in the field of training and military education.
Over the past year, both the Romanian and Greek naval forces have participated in a series of joint exercises: Sea Shield, Poseidon, Ariadne, Naias, and in training programs in the NATO Maritime Interdiction Operational Training Centre (NMIOTC) and in other naval facilities belonging to Greece and Romania.
