The municipality of Bucharest is analysing the possibility of establishing a general subsidy, including for those who can affort to pay.
‘The General Council of Bucharest, as it did before, will surely find solutions that are workable for the gigacalorie price, for the next winter and the ones to come, with the risk that some of the ongoing investment are timed’, vice mayor Mircea Raicu said.
‘All that imlies energy cost will have the same arrangement. The criterion will be the household income, and the indicative limit, respectivley an average income of 3,000 lei per month per family and below this income. There are approximately 70 percent of Bucharest inhabitans which are below this limit and will receive substantial subsidies from the municipality’, Mircea Raicu said at the ceremony celebrating 20 years of the League of Homeowners Associations ‘Habitat’.
He announced that in Bucharest the system would be changed this winter.
In the next two months, Bucharest needs to devise the mechanism for awarding grants, together with the NGOs such as the League ‘Habitat’ and other organizations of the owners associations.
As for the price gigacalorie, Raicu said it would be calculated depending on the growth.
‘This winter we will introduce a binomial tariff, which means that each family will pay based on last year’s consumption, a fixed amount. I mean, if last year is divided into 12 months it will result a fixed amount, which won’t cause the citizens any troubkle in the four winter months, that they have now. The costs will be shared equally across all months of the year and the grant will enter this fall’, the Capital’s vice mayor added.
Mircea Raicu stated that he intended to establish an alternative and general subsidy, including those wo can afford to pay.
