Senate Law Committee decided to hear Senate President Călin Popescu- Tăriceanu next week on Tuesday, following request of the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) to start criminal investigation in his case.

According to Committee President, PSD Senator Robert Cazanciuc, Standing Bureau will meet the 14-day deadline to draft the report.

Robert Cazanciuc: "We have started to study these files last week. Over the past five days, all of our colleagues came around here and submitted a first opinion. We still have two weeks for whoever has things to clarify. Also, probably after discussion with Mr. Tăriceanu there will still be clarifications to be made within the Committee. We have the file, we have 14 days to work on it".

DNA prosecutors have requested the Senate to approve starting criminal investigation on Călin Popescu-Tăriceanu, following charges that he indirectly received bribe while he was a Prime Minister, according to RRA Reporter Alina Bordeiaşu.
