"Happy Anniversary and Clear Sky!"

Romanian President Klaus Iohannis has sent a message, on Thursday, on the occasion of the celebrations for the Romanian Aviation and Air Force Day, emphasizing that the example of the soldiers' devotion and courage is a reference "for us and the generations to come".

"Today, July 20, 2017, on the day of Saint Prophet Ilie Tesviteanul, we celebrate the Day of Romanian Aviation and Air Force and we honor the contribution of all the military and civilians who have offered their destinies in the service of the Romanian Wings.

Since the establishment of the first aero-station of our army, in 1893, to the present date, when the F-16 combat aircraft has entered into force, the Romanian Air Force has come a long way of progress, marked with passion, of pioneering, of sacrifices.

The two World Wars were fire tests for the Romanian Air Force, which fulfilled the task of defending Romanian airspace and the land and naval, civil and military objectives", says Klaus Iohannis in the message.

At the same time, the Head of State shows that the participation of Air Force soldiers in complex missions, under the shield of NATO, UN, OSCE and the European Union, proves professionalism and patriotism.

He thanks all military or civilian aviators participating in rescue and evacuation missions and other emergency interventions for the exemplary way in which they are doing their duty.

"I express my admiration and gratitude for the love of flying and the abnegation with which you exercise this profession of faith, without taking into account the inherent restrictions and sacrifices.

I encourage you to persevere in your training and to maintain the highest standards of professionalism.

I assure you of all my appreciation, I wish you a great deal of health and I congratulate you for the remarkable way in which you fulfill your missions!
