Half a ton of cocaine with a purity of 98% was discovered in 40 boxes of bananas, informs DIICOT.
Authorities are trying to find out the final recipient of the goods and how they entered the country without a minimum of border control.
According to judicial sources, the importer announced immediately when he discovered that he had received cocaine instead of bananas.
RRA reporter Alex Buzica reports that the drugs are now being disputed by various institutions. It is not the first time that large quantities of narcotics enter Romania without problems. In 2019 over 1.000 kg of cocaine were discovered on the Black Sea coast.
This is also due to the lack of scanners in our customs, an investment that has been talked about for many years.
