Gymnast Sandra Izbaşa, gold at vault
On the 9th day of the Olympic Games in London, gymanst Sandra Izbaşa won the gold medal at vault. It is the second Gold Medal of the Romanian delegation at the Olympic Games.

Gymnast Sandra Izbaşa won the gold medal at vault with an average of 15.191.
She entered the competition ranked eighth and has outperformed the American on the podium, McKayla Maroney ranked second position with an average of 15.083 and the Russian Maria Paseka , beholder of three position with 15.050.
It is the eighth medal obtained by the Romanian delegation to the Olympic Games and the second gold.

The Romanian gymnast Flavius Koczi was ranked seventh in the final of the men on the ground.
The first three places were obtained by Zou Kai from China and Kohei Uchimura from Japan and Denis Abliazin from Russia.
Tiki Gelana from Ethiopia won the women's gold in the marathon final , followed by Kenyan Priscah Jeptoo and Tatiana Petrova from Russia.
Tiki Gelana obtained a new Olympic record, finishing the race in 2 hours 23 minutes 07 seconds, seven seconds faster than the previous record.
The Romanian athletes Constantina Diţă and Lidia Șimon were unable to get any medal in the women's marathon.
Lida Simon was ranked 45 and Constantina Diţă 86.
