The permanent offices of the both Chambers of Parliament decided that the Government will assume responsibility for the Code of Social Dialogue and for the draft law for the salaries of teachers on next Monday, at 16:00.
The members of the Parliament from the Liberal Social Union (USL) did not attend the proceedings of the Permanent Bureau.
By Friday, the members of the Parliament can make amendments to both laws.
The Executive decided last Thursday to begin proceedings of engaging liability in the Parliament for the Code of Social Dialogue and for the draft law on teachers’ salaries.
The Code of Social Dialogue includes draft laws on trade unions, employers associations or the organization of the Economic and Social Council.
This project also abolishes the collective labour agreements at national level.
As for capping teachers’ salaries, the Executive wants to restrict the salary increases for those teachers who won these rights in court by approving the project considering on teachers’ salaries.
Limitation for teacher salaries, "appealed to the Constitutional Court"
USL will not submit the motion of censorship on the two laws for which the Government will assume responsibility in Parliament and will not participate in the reading and discussion of the documents.
Regarding the draft law limiting teacher salaries, the president of PNL (National Liberal Party), Crin Antonescu, announced that USL will approach the Constitutional Court and will make a criminal complaint against the Prime Minister and President Traian Băsescu if he promulgates the bill.
"As for capping teachers’ salaries and adopting the Code of Social Dialogue, the Government finds itself on the 12th, 13th assumption of employment, beyond any acceptable limit in a democratic state. It completely removes itself from reality and gets a register that’s already ridiculous", PNL President Crin Antonescu said.
