The government is bringing several tax changes at its meeting on Wednesday, October 23. But there is good news, not bad, as Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu explained at the opening of the meeting at the Victoria Palace.
For example, taxes on buildings will not go up next year because the executive will extend the deadline for the new calculation system to take effect. The government approves investments of hundreds of millions of lei in the railroad infrastructure and for the development of the port of Constanta, with the intention of making it the most important in the region.
Two projects to modernize the road and rail infrastructure are today under the attention of the cabinet members, projects that are underway, supported by the NRRP and with the support of the European Investment Bank.
Thus, the rehabilitation and electrification, as well as the modernization of the Cluj-Napoca - Oradea and Caransebes-Timisoara-Arad railway lines are envisaged, while the A3 and A7 motorways are being considered in terms of road infrastructure. Particular attention will also be paid to the development of the port of Constanta.
"The aim is to turn it into a logistics hub on the Black Sea. We are financing with over 750 million lei the rehabilitation works to ensure a second rail access to the port of Constanta", Marcel Ciolacu said.
Property taxes will remain unchanged next year, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu announced, with the government postponing the application of the new calculation method until January 1, 2026.
"Until then, the Finance Ministry has to build a specialized structure, and the Cadastre Agency has the obligation to provide data to this structure", Marcel Ciolacu added.
Requests from the business community to use automated products and electronic cash registers linked to the tax authorities' servers have also been taken up, the Prime Minister added: "This is a new technology that prints QR code information on the receipt. It is obvious that many economic agents in the SME area are not ready yet, so we have extended the deadline until September 1, 2025."
