The leaders of the parties in the ruling coalition will meet at the Victoria Palace from 18:00 to analyze internal polls on voting intentions for the presidential elections in May. There will also be discussions on the draft budget for 2025, which PSD, PNL and UDMR want to pass through Parliament in early February.
Reporter: Catalin Purcaru - "The sociological studies are to be analyzed on Monday evening in the government coalition meeting. We're talking about internal polls on Romanians' voting intentions for the May presidential elections, in which several politicians have been tested, such as former PNL president Crin Antonescu and the leaders of the Social Democrats and Liberals.
PSD and PNL are expected this week to agree on a joint candidate for the presidential elections, as the Social Democrats have so far not validated Crin Antonescu's candidacy. PSD leader Marcel Ciolacu called a meeting of the party's leadership on Tuesday to discuss the joint candidacy with the Liberals and Victor Ponta's intention to run for the Cotroceni Palace.
At Monday evening's coalition meeting, PSD, PNL and UDMR leaders are expected to discuss this year's draft budget, which they want to pass through Parliament in the first week of February. The draft is built on a deficit of 7% of gross domestic product, with 7% earmarked for investment. The current ruling coalition has given assurances that there will be no tax increases."
