Government assumes responsibility for election of mayors in two rounds

Romanian Government has assumed responsibility for two-round mayoral elections, in a joint sitting of the Parliament.

Social Democratic Party (PSD) does not support this and has already announced it will file a motion of censure. They say that electoral laws cannot be changed less than a year before the election.

PSD believes that the Liberal Government and its allies are abusing power, and the motion of censure that PSD and UDMR will submit most likely on Thursday covers the entire activity of the Executive.
