Google Street View cars are returning to Romania, with the aim of updating the images of over a hundred towns and their related roads, Google informs in a press release quoted by Agerpres.
"In the coming months, Google cars will cross the country's roads and visit more than 100 localities and the roads between them, with the aim of updating the Street View images from cities, roads and highways on Google Maps. Downloading 360 Street View images in Romania begins Tuesday, March 7. The Google Street View cars will cover areas and localities from all over the country, from Valenii de Munte, Campulung, Timisoara, Orsova, Deva, Bucharest, Pascani, Calarasi, to Targu Mures", notes the quoted source.
The Street View service has been available in Romania since 2010, when the first images from the most important cities were published on Google Maps.
The coverage of Street View at the level of the entire country was achieved in 2012, when images were taken from 40.000 km of roads, from 39 cities and hundreds of tourist attractions.
Street View is a popular service offered by Google Maps, available in over 250 countries, including the Arctic and Antarctica. Worldwide, the service has over a billion active users every month.
In 2022, the ecological routes function was launched in Google Maps in Europe, including in Romania.
