"Golden Stag" (“Cerbul de Aur”) International Music Festival, this year at its 18th edition, resumes tonight with its Anniversary Gala in the Brașov Council Square, after a nine-year break. Event is organized by the Romanian Television (TVR), with the support of Brașov City Hall and Brașov City Council, and is taking place between August 29 and September 2.

Famous singers and bands from the Romanian and international music industry will perform on stage. This edition will be attended by 18 contestants from 15 countries.

First evening is a celebration of the laureates of the Golden Stag Festival, from Gigliola Cinquetti, Luminița Dobrescu to Paula Seling, Monica Anghel, Corina Chiriac, Laurențiu Cazan, Nico, Doru Tufiș, Proconsul, Ovi, Luminița Anghel, Narcisa Suciu, Răzvan Krivach. Inaugural evening will host recitals of Gigliola Cinquetti, fado singer Paulo Bragança, The Humans and Andra.

On the second evening of the Festival, 18 contestants will be on stage, performing the first song of the two in competition. Recitals will be held by Linda and Flavius Teodosiu, Loredana and Amy Macdonald.

On the third evening, contestants will perform the second song, a Romanian melody of their choice. Together with the 18 contestants on stage, there will be the Romanian Broadcasting Band and the Brașov Opera Orchestra, conducted by Ionel and Andrei Tudor. Horia Brenciu & HB Orchestra, Delia and James Blunt will be in recitals.

Fourth evening of the Festival will offer recitals of Nicole Scherzinger, Edvin Marton, The Motans, Eleni Foureira, Carla’s Dreams.

The last evening of the Festival is a majestic show of Romanian folklore with special moments held, among others, by Cornelia and Lupu Rednic, Ionut Fulea, Niculina Stoican, Viorica Macovei, Lăutarii Orchestra conducted by Nicolae Botgros and Grigore Leșe.

This year, for the first time at “Golden Stag”, folklore will be reinterpreted in modern key by Damian Drăghici and Alex Calancea. Evening ends with a historical evocation project. Toți K1 pentru România.

International star Gabriel Garko, one of the most famous actors in Italy, will be the special guest star of the Festival. Gabriel Garko is known to the Romanian public especially from the series „Honor and respect” recently broadcasted by TVR.

Diana Ross, Amalia Rodrigues, Julio Iglesias, Sheryl Crow, Tom Jones, Vaya con Dios, Coolio, Christina Aguilera, Kenny Rogers, Ricky Martin, Kelly Family, Patricia Kaas are some of the international music celebrities who have performed on the stage of the “Golden Stag" International Festival.

Current director of the „Golden Stag” Festival is Smaranda Vornicu Shalit, daughter of famous Romanian TV Producer Tudor Vornicu, who managed the first edition of the prestigious event, in 1968: "I grew up surrounded by the nostalgia of those who participated as television people, artists and spectators or viewers in the 1968 - 1971 festival editions. I was delighted when this prestigious musical tradition was resumed by TVR in 1992, musicians of worldwide fame performed on the stage in Piața Sfatului and this brand was reborn to public acclaim. 2018 is the year in which we celebrate Romania’s Centenary and, in a beautiful coincidence, it is also the 50th anniversary of the first edition of the “Cerbul de Aur” International Festival. We wish for the prestige of this legendary Stag, the beauties and traditions of Brașov, the work of the TVR team and the talent of Romanian and international artists who will be part of the festival to bring joy to everyone - this year and for many years to come. The legend goes on!"

Festival will be broadcasted live and exclusively by the Romanian Television (TVR).
