Gold for Romania at the European Championships of kayak-canoe
Athletes Liviu Dumitrescu and Victor Mihalachi won the gold medal in the Canoe 2 of 1000 metres distance at the European Championships in Zagreb.

Men's Canoe 2 crew of Romania, comprising Liviu Dumitrescu and Victor Mihalachi, captured the gold medal in the final on Saturday at 1000 metres at the European Championships of kayak-canoe in Zagreb.
Multiple medalist of the tricolor crew, European and World medalist , completed the race with a time of 3: 35.02 min, moving them into account - and sixth gold medal, Mediafax informs.
On the podium there were Germany (plus 0.52 seconds) and Belarus ( plus 0.72 seconds).
The Canoe 2 on the distance 1,000 meters is also an Olympic rounds, the two Romanian athletes are qualified to the Olympic Games in London.
Also Saturday, in the first final with Romanian presence, Iosif Chirilă was ranked number 6 on Canoe 1, on distance of 1000 metres.
Kayak 4 women’s crew came in the 500 metres final on the last place, the 9th.
In the final round, after the Friday preliminaries, were also qualified the male Romanian crews Canoe 2 (500 metres), Kayak 2 (500) and Kayak 4 (1000).
On Saturday, another finals will take place at the 1000 m, series at 200 m and finals at paracanoe, and on Sunday, the last day, are scheduled the finals at 500 m K4 1.000 m men, finals at 200 m, and finals at 5000 m.
