The General Prosecutor's Office has classified, today, the file on the December 2009 presidential elections on the ground that prosecutors did not identify alleged unlawful acts of abuse in service and falsification of electoral documents and records.
The file was opened after journalist and political adviser Dan Andronic argued that several high-ranking officials, including former Romanian Prosecutor Laura Codruța Kövesi and former SRI General Florian Coldea, were present, on the evening of the second round of the presidential elections, in the house of the former Deputy Prime Minister, Gabriel Oprea, and contributed to the victory of Traian Băsescu in the elections.
Several politicians who held office in 2009 in the Romanian State were heard by Prosecutors of the General Prosecutor's Office in this case.
The investigators also requested documents from several state institutions, including the Permanent Electoral Authority and the Special Telecommunications Service.
