The 100th Edition of Gaudeamus Book Fair, organized by Radio Romania, is now open in Mamaia Black Sea resort, until Wednesday August 16. These days, the Public Romanian Radio Broadcasting Company is also celebrating 50 years from the first live broadcasting of Radio Holiday (the Black Sea Coast frequence).

Silvia Pascale, Radio Constanța: The Gaudeamus Book Fair, the Summer Edition, was officially opened by the Military Band of the Romanian Naval Forces. The event was also attended by the Interim Manager of the Public Radio, Georgică Severin.

The double anniversary is marked by lots of free-entrance open-air concerts performed by Radio Romania’s Orchestras.

Georgică Severin: Gaudeamus Book Fair is an industry in itself (…) an event that takes place in numerous editions throughout the country and obviously we have the international edition at the Romexpo Pavilion in Bucharest.

Mayor of Constanţa, Decebal Făgădău, who is the Honorary President of the Book Fair, spoke about the importance of the Gaudeamus Summer Event:

Decebal Făgădău: It is extremely honorable the fact that, at a time when everybody thinks of entertainment, there are people who take action to capture attention on books and reading, on what is really important.

There are various interesting cultural events, there are lots of offers from book publishing companies, that visitors and tourists who are now in Mamaia will have the chance to take advantage of. Splendid musical evenings are offered by the Radio National Orchestra, the Radio Big Band and the Radio Folk Music Orchestra.
