Two Romanian Air Force MIG-21 Lancer fighter jets escorted four Russian aircraft that flew over the Black Sea, near NATO airspace.
The spokesman of the Ministry of National Defense, Constantin Spanu, explained that it was an air police mission executed under the command of the Alliance.
The two Tupolev 22 bombers and two Russian Sukhoi 27 fighter jets were then pursued by Bulgarian and Turkish aircraft as they entered the patrol area of these NATO states, the spokesman added. The mission took place on Tuesday.
