FOTE 2013 Opening Ceremony
At Brasov took place the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympic Festival for Youth Committee. At the games participate over 1500 athletes up to 18 years from 45 countries.

20.26 pm:The organizers invite participants to attend a concert by singer Inna and Sensor band.
20.22 pm: Official Speeches: Message from the Commissioner for Youth is transmitted on the special screen in the center of the city.
20.21 pm: The Olympic oath on behalf of athletes, referees and coaches.
20.19 pm: the Olympic flame is lit at the European Youth Olympics in Brasov.
20.18 pm: Athlete Rares Dumitrescu handed the Olympic flame to the multiple champion Mihai Covaliu.
20.15: the participants are invited to stand up for Olympic anthem.
20.14 am: the Olympic flag with the five rings is worn on mast, where it flies.

20.11 pm: Official Speeches: Prime Minister Victor Ponta declared open the 11th edition of the European Youth Olympic Festival.

19.58: Romanian delegation ends the parade. The list comprises 60 young athletes.

19.42 pm: Some delegations paraded before, some have a strong tradition in winter sports: Austria, Armenia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic. At the ceremony assist also the International Olympic Committee President Jacques Roggue.
19.37 pm: Around 1500 athletes from 45 countries participate in the parade at the opening celebration.
19.35: Romanian anthem is sung by a children's choir.
19.30: Radio Romania correspondent at the Olympic Festival in Brasov said that athletes parade begins with the Greek delegation.

Starting 19.30 takes place on the Olympic Stadium the opening ceremony of Brasov European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF).
Delegations from 45 countries march in front of International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge.
According to the correspondent of Radio Romania News, Mădălin Iacob, the Stadium access is by invitation only due to its reduced capacity, about 3,000 seats.
Those who wish to follow in real time the ceremony could do it in Council Square in Brasov, where a giant screen was set.

In the historic center of Brasov, the traffic is restricted until 23.00.
Romania is represented by 60 athletes and is this is the third mission in number of participants, after Russia and the Czech Republic.

Over 1,000 policemen, gendarmes and representatives ISU ensure the security of the festival.
In addition, 400 volunteers are involved in this event, the European Youth Olympic Festival, this being the most important competition winter ever held in our country.

Entry is free during all competitions for spectators, say organizers.
EYOF History
History of Youth Winter Olympic Festival Committee (FOTE) began in the Italian ski resort of Aosta, in 1993.
Young continental elite competed for medals in five disciplines: downhill skiing, cross country skiing, biathlon, figure skating and speed skating.
FOTE is a competition designed for multisport athletes juniors (14-18 years) of the 49 European countries.
It belongs to the European Olympic Committees Association (EOC) and is under the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
FOTE is held every odd year, and each year the organization contains a winter edition and one for summer.
The first edition took place in the summer of 1991 and the first winter edition in 1993.
Winter Edition 2013 (the 11th) has been entrusted to Romania to organize and the host city is Brasov.
