Former Security Agents recruited even underage students

The National Council for the Study of Security Archives (CNSAS) announced on Wednesday that it had sent 2.680 documents to military prosecutors regarding the work of 32 former security officers, who were involved in recruiting and directing more than 838 underage students in the last years of the communist regime.
"On January 12, 2022, the National Council for the Study of Security Archives submitted to the General Prosecutor's Office - Military Prosecutor's Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice a number of 2.680 documents identified in its own archive, regarding the activity of 32 former Security officers, who were involved in recruiting and directing more than 838 underage students in the last years of the communist regime", a CNSAS statement reads.
The Council continues to identify the documents necessary for the investigation of probation in the file opened by the General Prosecutor's Office - Military Prosecutor's Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice, following the notification submitted in 2021.
In May 2021, CNSAS notified the General Prosecutor's Office about the commission of crimes against peace and humanity by former Security and Militia officers, who recruited thousands of students in the last two decades of the communist dictatorship in Romania.
"The College of the National Council for the Study of Security Archives has decided to send to the General Prosecutor's Office - Military Prosecutor's Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice a notification, regarding possible crimes against peace and humanity, committed by former Security and Militia officers. especially in the last two decades of the communist dictatorship in Romania, by recruiting as sources thousands of students under the age of 18. These abuses, committed by employees of state institutions designated by law to defend the Constitution and civil rights, were systematic in nature and targeted large groups of minors, which justifies bringing these measures to the attention of public opinion and the judiciary, in accordance with the law. In this regard, the Council transmitted to the General Prosecutor's Office the professional data of the officers involved in the recruitment of minors, accompanied by the proving documents from the Security archive. CNSAS will inform the public about the stage of this approach", CNSAS said in a press release.
In its regular meetings, the College approved the submission to the General Prosecutor's Office of the documentation regarding 43 Security officers, who recruited 696 students in the first years of the communist regime in Romania, according to Agerpres.
