Foreign investments in Romania ‘doubled’
In January and February foreign investments in Romania doubled over the same period in 2010 after in the last two years the number of foreign investments decreased, according to the National Bank of Romania (NBR).

In January and February foreign investments in Romania doubled over the same period in 2010 after in the last two years the number of foreign investments decreased, according to the National Bank of Romania (NBR).
According to NBR, foreign direct investments in Romania doubled in the first two months of this year to 294 million euro compared with the amount of 140 million euro over the same period last year.
Direct foreign investments fully financed the current account deficit of 44 million euros in the first two months.
In 2010 direct foreign investments were lower than in 2009, amounting to 2 596 billion euros, down by 25.57 percent over the previous year, when there was a level of 3 488 billion euros.
Direct foreign investments were made mostly in equity stakes, which amounted to 2.04 billion euros, the remaining input of 556 million euros accounting for intra-group loans.
