Liberal Florin Citu, acting minister of finance, was appointed by the president of Romania to form a new government. Citu was the proposal of the center-right coalition formed by PNL, USR PLUS and UDMR.
The designated prime minister has vowed to bring a team of professionals to the government to ensure stable, long-term governance and manage the health and economic crisis. At the same time, Florin Citu assured the head of state of a transparent and honest partnership.
Florin Citu: I will do everything appropriate to have a stable and long-lasting government. During this period, Romania is going through a double crisis, a health crisis and an economic one. It is the role of this government to get Romania through the health crisis as quickly as possible, with as few costs as possible for Romanians, and to put the economy back on its healthy feet. Coming before you with a team of professionals, each ministry and each minister will have clear objectives from the Prime Minister, which will be monitored quarterly. I will ensure that these objectives are met.
