Fishing season in the Danube Delta has been reopened on Wednesday, June 6, after a two months ban. Fishermen who want to catch pike must release it.
Governor of the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve has recommended that fishermen be informed of the places they can fish, as in the strictly protected areas fishing is prohibited.
They have to pay only the access fee, which varies between 5 and 30 lei, depending on its period of validity. On the other hand, this year, commercial fishermen have the right to capture a total of nearly 5,000 tons of fish, compared to last year, when they had the legal right to catch a little over 4,000 tons.
