First Olympic medal for Romania
Judoka Alina Dumitru won the silver medal in 48 kg category. Men's gymnastics team failed to qualify in the final.

On the first day of the Summer Olympics, judoka Alina Dumitru won the first medal for Romanian delegation.
She won silver in 48 kg category in the final disputed with Brazilian Sarah Menezes.
Rowers Georgeta Andrunache and Viorica Susanu are on track to double frames, even if they will evolve into retraining and Daniela Dodean also goes further on table tennis.
The men's gymnastics team failed to qualify in the final. Koczi Flavius will participate though in the finals of the ground, jumping and composed individual.
In tennis, Sorana Cirstea and Adrian Ungur lost their opening round matches and swimmer Dragos Agache series did not pass the 100 m breaststroke.
The cyclist Andrei Nechita failed to finish the road race fund.
Sunday, at the 52 kg judo category will evolve the European champion Andreea Chitu, who will start at 11.58 against Algerian Soraya Haddad.
At the individual epee will perform Rares Dumitrescu, Florin Dolniceanu and Tiberiu Zalomir and Lucia Mihalache will conquer at shooting contest, at skeet.
Romania will start at 22.00 in the skills of women's gymnastics competition.
Also Sunday, the country's water polo team will meet the UK.
Strip Dan judoka will also compete in the 66 kg category, table tennis players Elizabeta Samara and Daniela Dodean, Women's 8 + crew and swimmer Camelia Potec (400m freestyle).
