First meeting of Competitiveness Council under Romania’s EU Presidency
Romanian Economy Minister Niculae Bădălău, who chaired meeting, spoke about the importance of stimulating development and use of Artificial Intelligence in Europe.

European Union Competitiveness Council adopted, on Monday, in Brussels, first conclusions on the impact of Artificial Intelligence on the competitiveness of European Union industry. Ministers underlined the crucial importance of fostering the development and use of Artificial Intelligence in Europe.
EU Ministers of Economy also discussed the "Clean Planet for All" Program, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
RRA Correspondent in Brussels, Amalia Bojescu: "During the first meeting of EU Competitiveness Council, under Romania’s EU Council Presidency, Ministers adopted the first conclusions on the impact of Artificial Intelligence on the EU industry. Romanian Economy Minister Niculae Bădălău, who chaired this meeting, spoke about the importance of stimulating the development and use of Artificial Intelligence in Europe, by increasing investment in the sector and encouraging collaboration on research and innovation between industry and academia.
Niculae Bădălau: "We all agree that Artificial Intelligence will have a considerable impact on our lives, including on the functioning of our economy and on the way in which future work will be organized. European industry must be prepared to do this in order to maintain its competitiveness on global markets".
Niculae Bădălău also said that special attention will be paid to strengthening the competitiveness of European industry and improving the single market function.
Ministers also discussed the "A Clean Planet for All" program, welcoming the initiative of the Romanian EU Presidency to actively engage and support the vision proposed by the European Commission - zero greenhouse emissions by 2050.
