Over 6 million lei is the value of the fines applied by the police, following the controls that took place in the last week regarding the way in which the sanitary protection measures are observed.

There have been tens of thousands of actions across the country - say officials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The check-ups focused on areas with epidemiological risk, said Monica Dajbog, spokeswoman for the institution: "Approximately 31.500 economic operators and 1.500 passenger transport operators were checked, as well as over 67.400 points of interest, 2.400 more than last week.

Also, about 640.000 people were checked, 100.000 more than last week. More than 34.000 people who did not comply with measures to limit the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus were identified.

Following the verification actions, carried out in the last 7 days, approximately 34.700 sanctions for minor offenses were applied, amounting to over 6.3 million lei.

Most of the sanctions, respectively 30.112, were applied for not wearing a protective mask.", Rador reports.
