World Radio Day is celebrated on February 13, proclaimed by UNESCO in 2011 and endorsed in 2012 by the UN General Assembly.Theme of World Radio Day 2020 is "Radio and Diversity".
Radio Romania International marks the event along with other partner broadcasters. Journalists from linguistic services of Radio Romania International, Radio Canada International, Radio Prague International, Radio Poland and Swissinfo, Switzerland held pre-recorded debates, on diversity, referring to diversity within teams of employees and collaborators to diversity of topics and journalistic genres addressed in the editorial offer. The debates, conducted in English, French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Chinese and Italian, will be used, in different formats, in the on-air programs or in the online offer of the five broadcasters involved.
Technical directors and engineers of the international partner broadcasters prepared, alongside journalists, World Radio Day 2020.
On the occasion of World Radio Day, RRI journalists met volunteers who carry out the programs Radio Shalom Romania, the online station of the Jewish community in Bucharest. Radio Romania International contributed to the establishment of Radio Shalom Romania with know-how and training.
February 13 is the day the United Nations radio station was established in 1946, Rador reports.
