Starting today and until September the 28th, farmers can apply for financing for irrigation and land reclamation works, informs the RRA reporter, Eliza Ungureanu.
The amount provided by the Paying Agency for Rural Development and Fisheries exceeds 25 million Euros.
Laurentiu Musat, the head of the agency, says that for public investments that serve the entire community the financial support grant is 100 percent, with a cover of maximum 1 million Euros and a minimal one, which starts from 5,000 Euros.
"These funds may be required for investment in upgrading or rehabilitation of irrigation systems, including the pumping or metering stations, but also for land improvement works to ensure optimal operation of irrigation systems.
Beneficiaries are public organizations and federations of owners and landowners, established in accordance with the law.
"Who can benefit from this irredeemable money? It is about public organizations and federations of owners and landowners, established in accordance with the law," said Laurentiu Musat.
This grant is awarded as grants to increase agricultural efficiency and aims to reduce the risk and uncertainty in agriculture, reducing the incidence of natural phenomena.
The government announced in July that the tariff for irrigation will be reduced with 50 lei per thousand cubic meters, and the projects related to measure 125 in agriculture will have an additional allocation of 25 million Euros.
"If until now the price was 250 lei per thousand cubic meters of water pumped, the price drops to 200 lei," said the Agriculture Minister, Daniel Constantin.
The Minister said that farmers have signed contracts with ANIF to irrigate 247,000 hectares in 2012, of which about 40,000 acres are irrigated.
