Hundreds of family doctors and patients from all Romanian counties have protested, on Wednesday, in the Victory Square in Bucharest (in front of the Government’s premises), against the current poor situation of the Romanian Healthcare System.
They are particularly dissatisfied with the bureaucratisation of the Healthcare system and the impossibility to release certain prescriptions so that patients will no longer have to run from one medical specialist to another.
Two weeks ago, hundreds of family doctors gathered in front of Health Insurance County Houses across Romania, where they filed a Memo to make their claims known.
Family physicians have formed the “Solidarity for Health” coalition, together with nine other non-governmental patient organizations, to raise awareness of the problems this branch of Medicine faces.
In Romania, there are currently 11,000 family doctors and about 9,500 offices for Family Medicine practices.
