F16 aircraft of the Romanian Army are to take part in missions of the Police Air Service (SLPA) starting in March, under a national command, informs Romanian Minister of Defense, Gabriel Les.
F16 aircraft will also be able to participate in international missions, as soon as the Romanian squadron receives NATO certification, Minister stated in a post on his Facebook account.
"All the F16 multi-role aircraft are operational and ready to participate in missions", Gabriel Les said, while specifying that "there are no F16 Fighting Falcon aircraft in the 53 squadron to be dismantled for spare parts".
