Romanian Parliament is holding an extraordinary session on 1-5 July, to adopt changes to Electoral Law. Agenda also includes appointment of members in Board of Directors of National Bank of Romania and Romanian Fiscal Council, as well as appointment of President of National Audiovisual Council of Romania (CNA).
RRA Reporter Iulia Gherman: "Amendments to Law on Presidential Elections have been endorsed by Special Parliamentary Committee on the basis of proposals made by Permanent Electoral Authority.
Document establishes that in the presidential elections, Romanians in the diaspora can use classic vote, correspondence vote and anticipated vote, which will take place over a period of three days - Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Draft law specifies that voters in the diaspora who will be at the polling station or waiting in line in the last day of the elections (on Sunday) will be able to exercise their right to vote after 21:00, but not later than 24:00, according to Chairman of Romanian Permanent Electoral Authority, Florin Mituleţu-Buică.
Amendments to the Electoral Law will be debated first by the Senate. Vote in plenary in the Chamber of Deputies (which is a decision-making body in this case) is expected most likely on Wednesday.
Also on Wednesday, Parliament's plenary session has scheduled a meeting to appoint members of NBR Board of Directors, Fiscal Council and President of CNA".
