Extraordinary Senate session

The Senate plenary is meeting in extraordinary session to inform senators about the emergency ordinance adopted by the Government on 16 January, on some measures for the organization and conduct of this year's presidential and local by-elections.

According to the Constitution, an emergency ordinance enters into force only after it has been submitted for debate under urgent procedure to the competent chamber, in this case the Senate, and after its publication in the Official Gazette.
