Exercises in Poland: Romanian soldiers accidentally fired two projectiles at a village

Two pieces of ammunition used by Romanian anti-aircraft gunners during a NATO exercise in Poland fell last night in a village near the range.
The incident caused only material damage. The spokesman for the Ministry of National Defense, Brigadier General Constantin Spanu, says that the Polish military police will be provided with all the necessary information to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
Constantin Spanu: The Sky Guardians Air Defense Detachment carried out a night firing session with its Gepard systems at the South Hills Range in Poland. At 22:30, the commander of the detachment was informed that two munitions had fallen in the village of Bemowo Piskie, in the vicinity of the range, causing material damage. The detachment command will provide the Polish Military Police, which is investigating the cause, with all the data and information necessary to clarify the circumstances of the event. The Air Defense Detachment generated by the air defense structures of the Romanian Army is on its 15th rotation in Bemowo Piskie Training Area, with the mission of ensuring the Consolidated Forward Presence on the North-Eastern flank of the Alliance within the NATO Battle Group in Poland. During their six-month mission, the approximately 100 Romanian anti-aircraft gunners participate in exercises and training activities alongside their American, British, Croatian and Polish comrades, with the aim of improving cohesion and increasing the level of interoperability among NATO member troops.
