European Commission, report on Romania
The European Commission adopted, today, the country recommendations for Romania within the European semester based on the spring predictions which show that, if the current policies are maintained, the balance of Romania's general budget will be -9.2% of GDP this year and -11.4% of GDP in 2021.
The Commission estimates that the weight of public debt in GDP will reach 46.2% this year. The report on our country anticipates that this year the economic recession will be in place.
The document shows that the COVID-19 pandemic puts unprecedented pressure on the pre-existing health system, marked by structural deficiencies such as low levels of funding for the health system and unequal access to healthcare.
In this context, improving the resilience of the health system and its ability to respond to unexpected situations is a major challenge for Romania.
