EU leaders gather in Sibiu to discuss EU's future Strategic Agenda
Key word of the summit is expected to be 'unity'.

European Union leaders are gathering in Sibiu, Romania, on Thursday, 9 May, Europe Day, to discuss the future EU Strategic Agenda for 2019-2024. Meeting is to adopt the "Sibiu Declaration", which aims to send a message of unity and confidence in the European actions.
RRA Reporter Carmen Gavrilă: Local citizens and tourists passing by Sibiu today will have the opportunity to witness arrival of European Union Heads of State and Government, who will gather in an informal summit and discuss the future of the EU Strategic Agenda. Special security filters are placed in the area.
EU leaders will start the meeting at 12:30 with the traditional exchange of views with European Parliament President Antonio Tajani, then they will have a family photo in Grand Place and then discuss the future and the role of the European Union in the world, at the Brukenthal Palace during a working lunch.
Afterwards, EU leaders will return to Sibiu City Hall, where they will analyze the internal challenges the EU faces.
Summit Statement is expected after the working lunch. A joint press conference of President Klaus Iohannis, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and European Council President Donald Tusk will be held tonight.
Key word of the summit is expected to be 'unity' and the general principles of EU’s strategic agenda until 2024 will be broadly clarified. If no blockages, EU Strategic Agenda for 2019-2024, set in Sibiu, will be adopted at the European Council in June.
