Territorial integrity and sovereignty of Yemen, EU's priorities within the UN - related to human rights and climate change are among conclusions of EU Foreign Affairs Council that ended on Monday in Brussels. Situation in Ukraine, Syria and Venezuela were also on the Agenda.
Romanian Foreign Minister Teodor Meleşcanu referred to election of the European Chief Prosecutor, position for which former Romanian Head of National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA), Laura Codruta Kövesi, was selected, alongside two other candidates.
RRA Special Envoy Carmen Gavrilă: "As Teodor Meleşcanu said, he is soon waiting for a mandate recommendation from the Minister of Justice regarding candidacy of former DNA chief Codruţa Kövesi for the leadership of future European Prosecutor's Office.
Procedure requires Minister of Justice to issue a recommendation to Foreign Ministry and Prime Minister, on the basis of which Romania's voting mandate will be adopted and implemented by our ambassador in Brussels.
Vote requires each Member State to propose a priority order in the preferences of the three candidates now in race.
Same thing is to be done in parallel by the European Parliament, and in the end, the two positions will be negotiated between the Council and European Parliament by the end of next month".
