Embassies of Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden draw attention to Romania, in a joint statement, that the recently adopted laws concerning the Justice reform, in their current form, as well as the recent changes to the Criminal Code and the Criminal Procedure Code, risk to endanger the significant progress that has been made in building a roadmap and implementing credible reforms in the field of Justice.
The seven EU Member States have reaffirmed their affiliation to a common destiny with Romania, based in particular on the rule of law.
At the same time, the Embassies appealed to the parties involved in the Justice reform project in Romania to avoid any action that could lead to the weakening of the independence of the Judiciary and of the fight against corruption.
