Energy suppliers are calling for a clear support scheme

RADIO ROMANIA NEWS - Romanian energy and gas suppliers ask the government that the support scheme and the provisions of the new normative act be clear, so that the calculation formulas for the bills can be applied uniformly.

They are also concerned about the settlements in the support scheme for utility operators.

Reporter: Bogdan Isopescu - “Suppliers remain the main actors in the issue of providing support, because they apply the scheme and bear the reductions of consumers from their own pocket until the government settles. That is why suppliers have three major demands: the first is that the new provisions be clear, so that they are no longer accused of miscalculating invoices, as was the case in November and December; the second is that the settlement is made monthly and on time, not as in the present case, when the expenses for November and December were not reimbursed even for the suppliers who applied the correct scheme; the third condition is that the scheme does not involve economic damage to the activity of the operators, in this case not to cause them losses, as provided by European law.

The executive director of the Federation of Utility Operators in Romania, Dana Daraban: “The Romanian state wanted to expand its beneficiary base, but we do not see an exact calculation of the budgetary impact. Without this calculation, I tell you very honestly, until the payment of the settlements, this scheme is financed by the suppliers."

Beyond the support scheme for households, analysts say that one of the best things about the new formula is that it is also valid for non-household consumers, where the increase in bills has been huge, which reduces Romania's economic competitiveness as Europeans and increases the purchase price of all Romanians.”
