Security experts from six countries have attended the international conference titled “Emerging Importance of Wider Black Sea Area Security” hosted by Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu on 1-2 June, according to RRA Correspondent Carmen Vulcan.
Nearly 60 security and defense specialists, diplomats and geopolitical analysts from the USA, Ukraine, Turkey, Georgia, Republic of Moldova and Romania have discussed security in the Black Sea, in the context of the next NATO summit to be held in July in Brussels.
Romania-NATO relationship, Strategic Partnership with the US and NATO-European Union relationship have been on the Agenda.
Special guests were US security analysts George Friedman, President of 'Geopolitical Futures', and James Carafano, Vice President of the Heritage Foundation.
Event has been held under the High Patronage of the President of Romania, with the support of the Romanian Embassy in the US, and with the academic partnership of “Nicolae Bălcescu” Land Forces Academy in Sibiu.
Organizer of the international conference – Global Studies Center within the “Lucian Blaga” University in Sibiu – is to draw up an academic paper with political recommendations to outline strategic visions of security in the Black Sea region, for the Foreign Policy Department of the Romanian Presidency.
