Elena Lasconi is the new president of Union Save Romania

Elena Lasconi, the re-elected mayor of Campulung Muscel, is the new president of Union Save Romania. She won the two-day online elections held earlier this week with more than two thirds of the votes cast by the party's voting members.

Elena Lasconi must now secure a majority in the party's leadership structure Political Bureau, which will be elected at the USR congress on Saturday, June 29. She says she aims to bring unity within the party.

Elena Lasconi: "Like in a city when you win the mayoralty with a majority, you represent every citizen of that city after the elections. I will do the same in the USR. We are a team, and all my life I have worked as a team in Campulung, in the first capital of the Romanian Country. I have proved that I can build bridges between people, between generations and that I can unite people around values. This is what USR will do and I say it with great confidence."
