Romania’s National Women’s Handball Team ranks fourth in the final tournament of the European Championship in France (EHF-EURO 2018), following France (1), Russia (2) and The Netherlands (3). This position allows a direct qualification for the World Women’s Handball Championship that will be held in Japan from 30 November to 15 December 2019.
Line Player Crina Pintea was named the best on this post and has already signed a contract with Gyor Audi ETO KC (Hungary).
Among top scorers were Eliza Buceschi (45 goals) and Cristina Neagu (44 goals).
Left-back Neagu scored the 206th goal in her European championship career, breaking the all-time record held previously by Hungarian Agnes Farkas, who scored 205 goals over four tournaments between 1994 and 2002.
World-class player Cristina Neagu had to withdraw from the field due to a severe knee injury in the last minutes of the match against Hungary, but remained behind the team, to support it till the end of the Championship.
