The pandemic had a negative impact on Romanian students and especially on those coming from disadvantaged backgrounds, according to a report by the European Commission on education in Member States.
The document shows that, although steps were taken to keep the learning process going, some of the students did not have full access to online classes.
In villages and in poor Roma communities, children could not attend classes, mainly because they did not have a device to connect from: a tablet, a computer or a mobile phone.
The report also cites a study conducted after the first wave of the pandemic, according to which 58% of teachers in villages said they held classes with all students present, and 25% - with more than half.
