EC: Investigation regarding the restructuring of the Oltenia Energy Complex

The European Commission has initiated an investigation into the government's restructuring program for the Oltenia Energy Complex.
Through this program, the Bucharest executive aims to transform the energy giant in 5 years into a company that produces energy not only on coal, as it is now, said the Minister of Energy, Virgil Popescu:
Virgil Popescu: The Oltenia Energy Complex is in a restructuring program which I notified to the European Commission. The Commission was not satisfied with the restructuring program and launched a so-called, as it formally calls it, investigation. The Oltenia Energy Complex is in contact with the Commission. There are currently talks on adapting the program to the requirements. We propose, through that restructuring program, that from a company that produces electricity only based on coal, to exist at the end of the restructuring program, in 2026, production of electricity based on coal, and based on natural and renewable gas.
